Woodburning a Raccoon in a Tree – Adventures in pyrography.
This time I woodburned a scene with a raccoon up in a tree. After looking at various photos of raccoons around the intertubes, I kindof took a couple of different animals as inspiration. I liked the face and head position of one and the body position of another one or two. In my sketch pad I compiled a pose that I was satisfied with along with the tree limbs and layout.
I had intended to sketch out the entire piece onto the basswood plank, but after placing the eyes and ears, I said “screw it”, and just decided to wing it (as with most of what I do). So I freehanded the rest with the woodburner pen. Risky, I know, but it worked out; I’m happy with the results of this shy little fuzz ball.
This piece is another functional artwork, because I added those three metal hooks along the bottom for keys, leashes or whatever lightweight hangy items one might want to hang on an artwork. It is a unique place to put your keys, since it’s one of a kind original and all.
If you are someone who would like an artwork by me click the green button to get this piece (if it’s still available)
Or have a look through my shop for other art pieces of different mediums. I couldn’t do this full time without you who like my art!
As with some of my other pyrographs so far, the basswood plank has a live edge on two sides with bark and remnants of moss. Looks really neat and natural. Have you ever looked really close at bark with moss on it; it looks like a micro landscape to me, idk.
Please have a look at some of my other art on my site. If nothing else you can laugh at me. LOL. I’m attempting, once again, to be somewhat consistent with my posting and other content. I’ve always loved the internets, but it seems to be tough for me to post and update my own content.
